Module 11: Range Expansion
The Physics of Frequency
High notes are simple physics: Frequency = Speed of Vibration. To make your lips vibrate faster, you need faster air.
The Garden Hose Effect: If you want the water to shoot further (Higher), you put your thumb over the end (Smaller Aperture) or turn up the faucet (More Compression). You do NOT squeeze the hose itself (Lip Pressure).

The Venturi Effect
We increase airspeed by narrowing the oral cavity. Raise the back of your tongue toward the roof of your mouth, as if saying 'Heeee'. This constricts the channel, forcing the air to accelerate just before it hits the lips.
Vowel Chart:
- Low Register: 'Ah' (Slow, Warm Air)
- Middle Register: 'Eh' (Faster, Cool Air)
- High Register: 'Ee' (Fast, Cold Air)
- Extreme Register: 'Eee' / 'Hee' (Laser Beam Air) — arch the BACK of the tongue even higher; don't block the air with the tongue tip or clench your teeth shut
Oral Cavity Compression
Think of 'Hissing' like a snake (Tsss). Your tongue pushes up, compressing the air stream. This compression happens inside the mouth, not at the lips. This protects your chops.

Targeting: The Dartboard
Don't slide up to high notes. Hear the pitch first (Audiation), set the tongue arch 'Ee', take a breath, and strike the 'bullseye' directly. If you miss, stop. Reset. Aim higher.
